Day 9

Memento mori, Rodney

We might judge our age
and the ageing of the planet
in comparison with Nicholas Lyndhurst

For so long, always
the younger and the junior,
the green and the naive, the going somewhere

Seeing him, older, indistinct and grey,
reminds us of our expiration date,
the elapsing of our time

And how, if we're not careful,
in reruns and in guest appearances,
we may come to haunt ourselves
